It's Good Friday and the market is filled with shoppers searching for last minute Easter baskets. I hear the vibrant child screaming, "No, mama, not that one Leslie has the purple one. I want a purple one too."
"The pink one is much cuter. You don't want the same one Leslie has, do you?"
"Yes!" The little girl screamed.
The grocery store was absolutely crowded today. I remembered, of course, it's Good Friday. But isn't every Friday a good Friday? Be patient Carmellita, I reminded myself. I watched as people rushed and grabbed things from the shelves. "This too shall pass," I whispered to myself. And just when I collected myself, I reached the parking lot....
"Okay," I'm thinking... "I need a Buddha moment."
"Whatsoever, after due examination and analysis, you find to be kind, conducive to the good, the benefit, the welfare of all beings... that doctrine believe and cling to, and take it as your guide."
---Buddha
Good, Kind, the welfare of all beings, yes, that's right. I should have a Good Friday. And what good can I find today? What did I learn from the little girl and her mom? What did I learn from the people crowded in the market today?
I learned that when people are trying to keep up with the commercialized mumbo jumbo, they lose sight of what really matters. Is it really about purple or pink bunny rabbits? We must take the "good" of this day and let it be our guide. Let the "good" be our guide everyday.

Good article! Some days, finding the good is an effort and some days wonderful synchronicities happen and the good is just staring you in the face. Thanks Grammy Guru.
hi carmelita,i loved buying easter candy and gifts for my kids, but they are adults now, and i can't say i miss the hustle, bustle, money being spent leaving a hole somwheres else, or the fact that as on christmas, no one seemed to be remembering that it was Jesus we were celebrating, not chicken peeps and chocolate bunnies. have a happy easter, and thanks for sharing,my best regards, sue thomMy mom says there are certain parts of it she misses as well. Mainly our reaction as we tear into our easter baskets or the times when I would find most of the eggs and give one to my cousin Lorraine who never found any. However, she says she doesn't miss the hustle bustle at all. Thank you Susan. I always love your comments.
